Halo: Reach Beta To Run Till May 19th
Written Wednesday, April 28, 2010 by Dan Webb

IGN is reporting this evening that Microsoft has told them that the upcoming Halo: Reach multiplayer beta will run from May 3rd to May 19th.

The site is also reporting that Bungie is set to turn on certain playlists of the beta at certain times throughout its 17 day lifecycle.

When players boot up their copy of ODST on Monday 3rd they will have access to the "Arena mode" (4v4 ranked Team Slayer), a Free-For-All playlist and also some "Grab Bag" playlists - which include a mix of classic and new game types.

The two unique modes won't be available on day 1, with "Invasion" - Spartans vs. Elites - set to be turned on sometime during May 7th and the "Generator Defense" game type seeing the light of day on May 14th.

In other Reach news, anyone who logs and plays at least one full game during the beta will net a cool Halo: Reach beta avatar hoodie, which can be unlocked after one game by browsing your stats in Waypoint - the free to download Halo portal on Xbox Live.

There is also a "Halo Multiplayer Unlock Weekend" making all the three Xbox 360 Halo titles free to play online for all Xbox Live members, starting on May 14th at 9am PDT and ending the same time on May 17th.

Last but not least, to those who own an ODST disc, there is a beta introduction available tomorrow via the game disc, so be sure to boot up the game and check that out.

Joystiq.com Halo Reach News

The Halo: Reach marketing machine is working overtime this week, as Halo Waypoint will release new content everyday until the Beta launches on May 3. If that isn't a big enough tease for you, the schedule of content the team at Waypoint sent to us still has a few "To be announced" placeholders. It's bad enough Halo fans need to wait, but waiting for the content provided to help diminish the wait for the Beta is just cruel, guys. Here's the Halo Waypoint schedule of content for the days leading to the Halo: Reach Beta.

In a recent Reach ViDoc, an Avatar award is briefly mentioned by designer Luke Smith as the only thing beta testers will start with when they begin their testing duties on May 3. Halo Waypoint will also see a title update sometime before the beta launches. While it's unconfirmed if the two are related, Team Waypoint recently tweeted more "details" would be released regarding an image of a "Halo: Reach Beta Tester" Avatar hoodie recently uncovered by NeoGAF; it's looking likely that this is the gear you could be getting for playing the Halo: Reach beta. Boosting My Gamerscore

I'm currently boosting my Gamerscore on Xbox Live....playing through some REALLY bad games to get a few easy completions for 1000 GS points. Now I am sludging through CSI: Hard Evidence, published by UbiSoft. This has got to be one of the WORST games Ive ever played. It takes a few hours to complete the game itself, but all achievements are unlocked with on playthrough, being that they are awarded for completing each "case file."

See the link below for details on this epic failure of a game.

Check out the link below to view the just released TV ad for Halo: Reach. Spartan III soldiers were drafted after the start the Covenant War, rather than being obducted like the Spartan II class. The picture of his parents confirms this, as most Spartan III's were orphans due the the war. More info can be found by reading "The Ghosts of Onyx" in the Halo book series.

Starting out small...?

First attempt at a blog here! Random thoughts and mindless pop culture references to follow I'm sure. Twitter links will be posted regularly as well. A lot of content revolving around gaming, Xbox 360, and general interest will be my focus now.

A lot of pretty funny/random sh*t happens down here in the dirty south so ill be sure to take pics and post them as well.

Wish me luck, or......just send money.

I'll try to update every Wednesday, see you tomorrow.
